ABOUT THE PROJECT

The initiative “NEAR- New Education Approaches for Road Safety” is supported by 4 organisations from 4 countries to strengthen young people’s approaches to road safety in order to prevent deaths and injuries caused by road crashes. Our major objective is to promote safe mobility for young people, to improve their attitudes, habits and behaviour in traffic and to provide psychological support to survivors of traffic collisions and young people who have lost someone close in road crashes.  Among young people we identify those who have experienced collisions and, together with other young people we develop preventive, supportive and educational models aimed at improving road safety and supporting "invisible victims".

Our vision

Our vision is: Zero deaths and injuries on our roads through involvement of youth and invisible road crash victims!

Our mission

The project emphasises on the approach of active citizenship to improve traffic safety. The results of the project will enable activities that will encourage young people to take appropriate action for safe mobility. We pay special attention to young people affected by the consequences of traffic accidents. Specific objectives of the project are to:

  1. Explore attitudes and behaviours of young people in traffic in order to create innovative models of prevention and support based on young people‘s needs.
  2. Build capacities of youth workers from partner countries in supporting young people‘s safe mobility through a series of training courses and e-learning activities.
  3. Design new models of prevention and support to young survivors and those who had experienced personal loss due to traffic collisions, with active participation of young people.
  4. Pilot, finalize and make new models of prevention and support available for use by organizations in Europe and beyond.
  5. Raise awareness and contribute to change of attitudes and behaviours of young people in traffic through coordinated campaigns in all participating countries.
