About Near Slovenia
At Varna Pot, we have been running prevention and education programmes for children from kindergarten to secondary school for many years. Developed with the help of highly qualified pedagogues, psychologists and other experts, the programmes are tailored to the age of the participants and their abilities. We run them all over Slovenia. Since 2007, we have involved more than 200.000 children and adolescents in our activities. As of 2017, we are also a promoter of FEVR's "we live VISION ZERO" programme, further strengthening our commitment to achieving the goals of a 50% reduction in the worst impacts by 2030 and achieving Vision Zero by 2050.
In Slovenia, we have developed a new prevention model for school and kindergarten management and professional staff. The training programme is aimed at teachers, advisory services and youth workers within educational institutions in order to empower and appropriately deal with children, pupils, young people and parents and provide support in the event of sudden losses and serious injuries that may result from a road crash - traumatic experiences that lead children/young people into emotional distress.
Goals
Sharing experiences and skills in supporting young people in the event of sudden losses and serious injuries that may result road accidents or other unexpected behaviors - better understanding of the target group and their needs – developed competences to implement different support models- learning about alternative models and how to empower managers and practitioners to use organizational, management and contextual approaches in the event of emergencies, critical, unpredictable situations.
Methods
The programme enables practitioners to update their disciplinary and professional knowledge for the professional work they do we will involve clinical psychology colleagues working in the programme psychosocial assistance programme ‘Together in need’ and present their own experience of working with clients in the psychosocial programme ‘Together in need’. The transfer of knowledge into practice will be promoted by a workshop in the second half of the programme with practical tests and the possibility of future cooperation, in case of need for additional guidance, as we have 17 years of experience in the field of psychosocial support.
