NEAR - Let's improve our road safety

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the activities related to this project will be based on youth between the ages of 15 and 24. Our target group for all activities will be high school and college students. As for high school students, we will base ourselves on the local community of our place, Srbac and our neighbouring communities - Gradiska and Banja Luka. As for students, we will carry out activities with the students from the University of Banja Luka.  We made two models - one preventive and one support model for road crash victims.

Model of prevention:

The Association "C.E.Z.A.R." is primarily recognized as a youth and educational organization, so the main idea of the prevention model for the project NEAR is to organize educations for young people according to a "peer-to-peer" model. We will organize trainings for youth educators and then they will conduct educational workshops with their peers. In addition, we will involve victims of road accidents who will share their experiences. We will start with the work in our local municipality and then expand it to other municipalities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Model of support:

As our organization is not so professional in the field of transport or psychology, we cannot help the youth victims as accurately as our partner organizations in this project. Therefore, we would prepare and organize a social media campaign to inform young (and other) victims of road accidents about all kinds of help they can get in our country. We will also disseminate various statistics and motivational messages. In addition, we will make a podcast with road crash victims.

They listened  to true stories and events from which they should learn a lesson. Education is provided by young educators on the "peer-to-peer" principle....

Workshop for ''peer-to-peer" educators

On December 8, 2023, a full-day workshop for the training of young educators as part of the Erasmus+ program called NEAR was held in the premises of the Citizens' Association "C.E.Z.A.R." Given that the model for the prevention of traffic accidents was a "peer-to-peer" approach, the training was attended by future young educators who will hold workshops for young people aged 15 to 23 in pairs. The lecturers were traffic experts - Milan Ilić and Nenad Srdić. They gave lectures to young educators...

Focus groups in Bosnia

During February and March, we organized focus groups with young people who are secondary victims of road crashes. There were three focus groups in total and around twenty young people took part in them. The point of organizing focus groups was to get a closer look to seconday victims - their feelings, their behaviour, etc. The results were used to make models of prevention and models of support that will be implemented starting from September 2023.
