Austrian pilot campaign will start at 19th of March

The Austrian pilot campaign by the project partner VISION5 will start at the 19th of March at the grammar school of BORG Kapfenberg/Styria. Sabrina, a secondary victim of a road crash will visit two seventh grade classes (aged 17-18) of the grammar school in order to tell her story about the road crash of her husband and elucidate the students about the possible consequences of a road accident.
The focus is not only on personal, intra-family issues, but also on legal, health and safety issues. We will inform you about the pupils' reactions and responses after the 2 sessions.

Activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina

In November, Citizens' Association "C.E.Z.A.R." organized a workshop for future young educators who will hold workshops for young people, since our model od prevention is a “peer-to-peer” workshops. The lecturers were traffic experts and they gave lectures to young educators in various areas - traffic rules, causes of accidents, statistics.

In December, educational training has started – workshops in high schools. The topic was - the consequences of reckless driving - alcohol and driving, fast driving, usage of mobile phones while driving. In this first phase, about 200 high school students from Srbac underwent the training.

In February, we will continue with workshops in other communities, and we will start will models of support – making a podcast with secondary victims of road...

NEAR Evaluation

RESULTS OF THE NEAR SURVEY

NEAR survey about attitudes and behaviours of young people in traffic was conducted among the youth in the age group 15 to 24 years, in four countries: Austria, Slovenia, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina. In total over 1500 answers were received and analysed. Participants were sked about their behaviour in traffic as pedestrians, car passengers, car, bycicle, motorcycle and scooter drivers. They were also asked about their experience with a road crash.

Main findings of the survey and its conclusions can be found in our Library. The partner organisations of NEAR project are using these finding as a base for developing and implementing new prevention and support activities for better road safety and car crash victim support in individual countries.

SUPPORT FOR YOUNG ROAD CRASH VICTIMS

From the 16th to the 18th of March, in Ljubljana, Zavod Varna pot hosted a comprehensive training program titled "Support for young victims of a road crash". The training brought together a diverse group of professionals from various fields to discuss best practices for supporting young people affected by road crash. Over the course of the three days, participants engaged in a variety of activities, including presentations, workshops, and meetings, all aimed at providing insights and solutions for improving care and support for young victims. A key highlight of the training was a visit to the Memorial for road crash victims, which offered a reminder of the importance of the work being done. NEAR Evaluation

The first NEAR evaluation took part in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Slovenia. Over 1700 survey participants in the age group of 15-24 shared their experiences and behaviours in road traffic and their attitudes towards risks and road safety with us. The results of the survey are still being analysed and will be available soon on this website.

LAUNCH OF THE PROJECT NEAR

On the 24th and 25th of October, the scenic Logar Valey hosted a kick-off meeting for a new Erasmus+ project NEAR. After countless emails, partners from Slovenia, Austria, Serbia, Bosnia&Herzegovina gathered together to launch the project, which focuses on safe mobilty for youth. Attendees engaged in various presentations and workshops, aimed at coordinating the work and collaboration within the partners.

The picturesque surroundings of Logar Valley served as an inspiring backdrop for discussions on how to reach out to young people, hear their needs and address invisible victims of road crash. The successful kick-off meeting set the stage for an exciting and productive collaboration, with high hopes for a positive impact on road safety in the participating countries and beyond.
